This year the school has begun work on a new general purpose room for the school. We have not received any funds from the Department of Education and Skills and so the project will be entirely self funded. This, needless to say, will be a huge undertaking, but is necessary as the school is in desperate need of a suitable hall for school activities and classes. This will require a huge fundraising effort and so we hope the whole school community can get involved over the coming months. Our fundraising begins with our Golf Classic event, hosted by Loughrea Golf Club from the 12th to the 15th of September. All are welcome to take part and all support greatly appreciated.
The 3D images below are renderings of what our finished hall will look like from the outside. It will certainly be a huge addition to the school!

This week was Active School week. We did different activities every day. Every morning we walked to school from the Cathedral and Baunóg. Sometimes we had as many as 90 boys walking together to school.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

admin : March 16, 2018 2:22 pm : Mr. MacLochlainn, Mr. Monahan, Mr. Mulhall, Ms. Fox, Ms. Mahoney, Ms. McCarthy, Ms. McTigue, Ms. Murray, News

On the 8th of March all the classes took part in Ceolchoirm Seachtain na Gaeilge. Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Week) is celebrated over 2 weeks in the run up to St. Patrick’s Day each year. During that fortnight we make an extra effort to speak Irish during our school day and celebrate all things Irish at our annual concert. Each class performed songs, tunes on the tin whistles and poems ‘as Gaeilge’. Some of 5th and 6th class boys volunteered to take part in a play organised by Ms. Lawless and Ms. Broderick called The Wizard Of Oz. All the performances were very good and well performed. At the end we sang the Ireland national anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann. It was a lovely day.
