Art and history

admin : November 8, 2018 1:59 pm : Ms. McTigue, Uncategorized

We did the stone age in history this week. We did pop goes the weasel with tin whistles. We did a call and response and we read Harry the hedgehog. We also did 8s 4s and 2s in division and we did a poem about a centipede called Do Not Let a Centipede. Before the mid term break we went to the library to listen on an author called Gerard Siggins. He told us some of his story and it was really good. We also did a maths trail around the school which was great fun. Have a look at some pictures of those below as well as pictures of our 10 @ 10 exercise that we have started again.

Trip to the Library

We went to the library to see an author called Geard Siggns who wrote stories about a rugby player. He told us about tragic stories that could happen in rugby and read one of his books to us. He did leave us on a bit of a cliffhanger because he didn’t read the very end of the story so we need to find out if the great player Eoin scored the winning point.

New G.P. Hall

This year the school has begun work on a new general purpose room for the school. We have not received any funds from the Department of Education and Skills and so the project will be entirely self funded. This, needless to say, will be a huge undertaking, but is necessary as the school is in desperate need of a suitable hall for school activities and classes. This will require a huge fundraising effort and so we hope the whole school community can get involved over the coming months. Our fundraising begins with our Golf Classic event, hosted by Loughrea Golf Club from the 12th to the 15th of September. All are welcome to take part and all support greatly appreciated.
The 3D images below are renderings of what our finished hall will look like from the outside. It will certainly be a huge addition to the school!
